The Council represents a completely new experience at Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois - a bold architectural statement by world-renowned architects Herzog & de Meuron. Opened in October 2024, this intimate 40-square-meter cigar lounge spans two floors and offers an unparalleled environment for cigar lovers. The space features 570 handcrafted ceramic tiles on 7-meter-high walls, bespoke etched oak wood panels, and bronze plates that create unusual and contrasting materials with surfaces that invite touch. The humidor gallery showcases over 200 premium cigars from 35 brands across six countries, with a strong focus on refined Cuban cigars housed in two walk-in humidors and two display cabinets. Every element was designed specifically for this room, from the custom-made dark brown walnut wood tables and stools to the red velvet sofas and Red Riding Hood lamps produced by Artemide. Two fireplaces and oak parquetry flooring complete the intimate setting. The lounge offers sophisticated cigar and cocktail pairings curated by Chef de Bar Thomas Huhn and his team, creating moments of pure indulgence in one of Basel's most prestigious hotels.
