Bar Les Trois Rois is a living legend at one of Europe's oldest grand hotels, offering a bar with proud tradition that invites business people, politicians, courting couples and quiet bon viveurs every day to enjoy a drink, relive the good old days, take a step back and practice the art of conversation. Located in the Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois which has been welcoming travelers since 1681, the bar has hosted luminaries including Napoleon Bonaparte, Queen Elizabeth II, Pablo Picasso, Duke Ellington, The Rolling Stones, Charles Dickens, and the Dalai Lama. Under the direction of Chef de Bar Thomas Huhn, sophisticated cocktails including classics like The Vesper, Knob Creek Old Fashioned and Negronis are expertly mixed. The bar offers a judicious selection of more than 100 whiskies from select independent bottlers and Japanese rarities, alongside Richard Hennessy Cognac and Rémy Martin Black Pearl magnum. Adjacent to the bar is The Council, the new Herzog & de Meuron-designed cigar lounge opened in October 2024. The hotel features the three-Michelin-starred Cheval Blanc restaurant by Chef Peter Knogl, combining French haute cuisine with Mediterranean and Asian influences. The terrace offers stunning Rhine River views, and the hotel's location at Blumenrain 8 places guests in the heart of Basel's medieval Old Town.
